Vinoterra Evolves: Personal Notes, Lunar Cycle Display, and Improved Astronomical Accuracy

A new Vinoterra update is coming with several important improvements to the biodynamic calendar, personal tracking, and the accuracy of astronomical data.

The objective remains the same: to provide a simple, clear, and reliable tool to better understand how natural rhythms may influence wine tasting and vineyard work.

A New Personal Notes Feature

Vinoterra now includes a new notes feature directly connected to the calendar.

You can save your observations and associate them with a specific date, creating a personal history of your tastings, vineyard work, and other wine-related activities.

Notes can be used to record, for example:

  • Wine tastings
  • Vine pruning
  • Harvest dates
  • Grafting
  • Vineyard treatments
  • Vineyard observations
  • Cellar work
  • Or any other event using your own custom categories

Your notes therefore become a personal journal connected directly to the Vinoterra calendar and to the biodynamic context of each day.

The Lunar Cycle Is Now More Visible

We have also redesigned part of the calendar display to provide clearer information about the lunar cycle.

Alongside Fruit, Flower, Leaf, and Root days, Vinoterra now makes it easier to follow the evolution of the Moon and understand each day within its broader astronomical context.

The aim is to make the calendar more intuitive while providing additional information for users who want to explore lunar rhythms in greater depth.

Improved Accuracy of Astronomical Calculations

We have also updated the algorithm used by Vinoterra to calculate the position of celestial bodies.

We identified that a small progressive offset could occasionally appear in some calculations. While the difference remained limited, precision is particularly important when determining transitions between biodynamic periods.

The algorithm has therefore been corrected and improved to provide more accurate celestial positioning and better long-term consistency throughout the calendar.

Vinoterra Continues to Evolve

This update represents another step in the development of Vinoterra.

Our goal is to make the calendar more than a simple reference tool. We want it to become a practical companion for wine lovers, sommeliers, and winegrowers: a place to observe, experiment, and keep a record of tastings and vineyard activities over time.

More improvements will continue to enrich the Vinoterra experience.
